The Koshi dam on the Saptakoshi river in Sunsari district collapsed on Monday afternoon after breaching embankments.

About 19,000 people have now been removed from the flood-affected area, the report said. Health officials are now concerned about an
outbreak of waterborne diseases, it added, saying six people have died so far.

China gave the Nepali government over US$50,000 for emergency relief work, Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.
