Tropical storm hits Vietnam

Flash floods and landslides have killed 100 and left 48 people missing in northern Vietnam, Reuters reported the government as saying on Monday. Communications lines were down after tropical storm Kammuri hit the region.

The Vietnamese province of Lao Cai, which borders China, was the hardest hit, with 38 people missing and 36 people killed since last week, Reuters reported the National Centre for Flood and Storm Prevention as saying.

Storms and flooding also hit China’s southwestern province of Yunnan on Sunday. No casualties were reported, but floods forced thousands of people to evacuate.
