SOPA’s Scoop Award went to a story by Wall Street Journal reporter Shai Oster. The article exposed threats to local people associated with the Three Gorges dam’s construction, including water pollution and mudslides.
Yazhou Zhoukan reporter Jiang Xun won the Local Journalist Award for a series of investigative reports about censorship. "Jiang has mined a treasure trove of first-hand materials and demonstrated real insight into the censorship issue on the mainland," SOPA said on its website.
