Australian PM to pressure China on climate

China will need to play an increasingly prominent role in international efforts to address climate change, Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd will tell the country's top leaders this week.

In a speech at Peking University, Australian Associated Press reported, Rudd said climate change was the great moral, economic and

environmental challenge of our time.

"That’s why climate change will be an important part of my discussions with the Chinese leadership this week,” he said. "It is
important that China play an increasingly prominent role."
 "An effective global response to climate change will require the active participation of all major emitters,” he added.
