Chinese premier attends Mekong youth summit

Chinese premier Wen Jiabao has appeared at a conference in Laos for young people from Mekong nations and visited an environmental project on the river, state media reported, amid concerns about worsening pollution in the region.

Pollution from industrial zones is threatening economic development in the Mekong Delta, experts at a separate conference in Vietnam said on Friday.

A television documentary called "Drinking from the River", filmed by China’s state broadcaster CCTV, will air in Mekong countries in April.
