China releases national strategy for plant conservation

With 15% to 20% of Chinese plant species endangered, China has released a "National Plant Conservation Strategy". The plan of action specifies targets for the years ahead, as well as a program for protection and supervision of the country's plant biodiversity.

Statistics indicate that 4,000 to 5,000 of China’s more biologically complicated plants are endangered. The wild plants are facing serious
threats such as shrinkage and deterioration of their habitats, fast consumption of natural resources and a rapid increase in the number of
endangered species.
