Team to sequence giant panda genome

Scientists from China and across the world have launched a research project to sequence the genome of the giant panda, state media reported on Friday.

The project aims to work out a draft sequence of the giant panda genome within the next six months.
Sequencing the panda genome will aid conservation efforts and scientific studies, the report said.
