The events, the report said, show a need for greater global cooperation on global weather forecasting.
"So-called freak weather is becoming more common," Salvador Briceno, head of the UN’s disaster relief agency was quoted as saying,
"reducing vulnerability to unexpected extremes must be a top priority for governments."
UN experts say better seasonal short- and long-term climate predictions are needed if lives are to be saved as weather patterns change.
