African, Asian crops at most risk of climate change

Crops in south Asia and southern Africa will be worst hit by climate change, US scientists have concluded, saying greater investment in agriculture development and adaptation is needed to ensure food security.

The study, which appeared in Science and was reported on SciDev.net, used statistical crop models for 12 food-insecure regions in the year 2030.

The analysis shows a clear impact of climate change on crops, the report said, and shows the need for increased and sustained
agricultural investment in the developing world.
