Species put at risk by early spring in UK

Cold snaps may threaten the long-term survival of certain species as spring arrives early in Britain this year, the BBC reported on Monday, citing Woodland Trust research.

Certain species of frogs, butterflies and plants have become "startlingly" active, the report said. But the phenomenon has left
certain species vulnerable to wintry weather.

The trust analysed the observations of more than 50,000 volunteers as part of its Nature’s Calendar project.
