Multinationals named in pollution probe

The State Environmental Protection Administration, China's eco-watchdog, has accused three transnational companies of continual failures in environmental cleanup.

The firms are the Thai-US joint venture between CP Group and Omnova Solutions, Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industrials Steel Structure and Chinese food and beverage producer Jinmalang.

The number of multinationals blacklisted by SEPA has surged from around 80 a year ago to nearly 300 today, Ma Jun, head of the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs, was quoted as saying.
