Chinese population to peak at 1.5bn in 20 years

China's population will peak at 1.5 billion in the next two decades, with males continuing to outnumber females, according to a recent official report.

The  world’s most populous country, China had a population of 1.307 billion at the end of 2005, 7.68 million were born in 2005 alone. The report says that the number of new-born boys will continue to outnumber girls by 119 boys to every 100 girls, much higher than the internationally recognized ratio of 103 to 107 baby boys for every 100 girls.
