The 46,000-tonne Blue Lady has been at the centre of a controversial legal battle between environmentalists and India’s ship-breaking industry since June last year, when the ship was allowed to anchor off the coast of India’s western state of Gujarat.
The ship contains more than 900 tonnes of toxic waste like asbestos, say environmentalists, which may threaten the health of workers at Gujarat’s Alang ship-breaking yard.
