Japan looks to China for source of smog

Japan's increasing levels of smog have raised alarm, Reuters reported on Friday, prompting experts to point the finger at neighbouring China.

Warnings for high levels of hazardous "photochemical smog" — which is created when sunlight reacts with exhaust from cars and factories — have been issued in a record 28 prefectures so far this year, the report said.

While the government is cautious about placing blame, Reuters cited experts as saying that much of the rise in pollution is due to
increasing emissions in China.
