Biofuels “to push up food prices”

Food prices will rise in the next 10 years as a result of rapid growth in the biofuel market, a key agriculture study said on Thursday.
Nearly twice as much sugar cane, maize and oilseed rape will be grown to fuel cars, the World Food Organisation and OECD said in an annual report of farming trends.
But this will take land out of food production and increase the price of commodities such as sugar, maize and palm oils, says the report.
