Chinese turtle poachers face trial in Indonesia

Twenty-three Chinese fishermen accused of poaching hundreds of endangered turtles may face jail in Indonesia, the official Antara news agency reported on Monday.

The Chinese were detained by customs police in waters off northeastern Borneo island on May 8, a conservation official was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.
The fishermen are accused of catching and killing 387 critically endangered turtles, including Green and Hawksbill turtles.
