Sichuan drought hits nearly 4 million people

A prolonged drought in southwest China’s Sichuan province has left nearly four million people and over four million livestock short of drinking water, Xinhua news agency reported on Tuesday.

Eighty cities and counties have suffered 20 to 40 days of drought this summer, said Xinhua, citing the Sichuan provincial meteorological bureau.
“About 110,000 people have to depend on water transported by vehicles,” Xinhua said, quoting the provincial water resources department.
