Video: Local residents in Zhenjiang count the cost of polluting textile industry

In recent years, the printing and dyeing industries in parts of China’s Zhejiang province have played a significant role in economic development. But they have also polluted the Qiantang River. 

Everyday, hundreds of thousands of tonnes of industrial waste-water, containing a variety of carcinogens, are pumped into the river. This short film below, provided by Greenpeace East Asia, shows both the environmental and human health costs.
