China and Russia expand co-operation in logging

China and Russia are preparing to work more closely together on projects in the forestry industry, including the leasing of 1 million hectares of forest in Siberia for Chinese logging.
The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources recently set out plans to develop large scale paper processing plants at Chitinskaya Oblast and Khabarovsk with respective annual production capacities of 400,000 and 300,000 tons.
