Invest more in green projects, banks told

China's state-run commercial banks should invest more in energy-saving and renewable energy projects, Reuters reported a government official as saying on Sunday.

Big state banks should divert 2% to 3% percent of their annual loans to green projects, which often lack funding, Reuters cited Yang Fuqiang, of the US-based Energy Foundation, as saying.

"It should not be about making money only. They (banks) should think of making money long-term," the report qutoed Yang as saying.
